FIFA: RBFA (BEL) "cannot support Gianni Infantino’s re-election campaign"

"The Royal Belgian Football Association wishes to emphasise that it cannot support Gianni Infantino’s bid for a further term as FIFA President," the RBFA said on 7 September 2026.

The Belgian association, one of FIFA’s founding members in 1904 alongside six other European associations (Netherlands, Denmark, Spain through Real Madrid, France, Sweden and Switzerland), said its decision was based "on two fundamental principles regarding which FIFA has, to date, shown no transparency":
• the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) case, which "raises questions regarding the transparency and governance of this process";
• the Balogun case (see below), in which important questions "remain unanswered," with the RBFA saying that despite its "explicit requests" for "a clear justification of the decisions…
