FIFA: French Football Federation withdraws support for Gianni Infantino’s candidacy

"The French Football Federation has decided to withdraw its support for Gianni Infantino ahead of the FIFA presidential election," Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, said following a meeting of its Executive Committee on 10 September 2026.

Gianni Infantino has faced opposition from several associations and confederations (see “Further reading” section) since he presented, on 28 July, the proposed creation of “FIFA Forward Enterprise” (FFE), a subsidiary intended to bring together FIFA’s commercial and event activities that would have been majority-owned by the world governing body but whose share capital would have been open to external investors. The project was ultimately abandoned just four days later, on 1 August 2026.
