Germany / DFB: police costs for high-risk matches to be passed on to host clubs

If the DFB is charged additional police costs in connection with a high-risk match, it will pass them on, at least partially, to the host club concerned. "The Federation is also required to do so as part of the management of its assets," the German Football Association announced following a meeting of its Executive Committee on 11 September 2026.

The decision in principle follows a legal dispute involving the Bundesliga over the Fees and Contributions Act of the State of Bremen (Section 4, Paragraph 4): the state had issued an invoice to the German professional league, as organiser of the championship, which subsequently sought reimbursement from Werder Bremen, the host club.
