2030 World Cup: "Morocco has the right to host a final for the 2^nd time in a century" (F. Lekjaa, FRMF)

"We will always be there for Africa’s rights and those of the Kingdom of Morocco, which, in my view, has the right to host a World Cup final for the second time in a century," said Fouzi Lekjaa, Morocco’s Minister Delegate for the Budget and president of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), in an interview with Jeune Afrique on 14 September 2026.

Of the 23 World Cups held to date, only one has taken place on African soil: the 2010 edition in South Africa, which ended with a Netherlands-Spain final (0-1 after extra time) at Soccer City in Johannesburg on 11 July 2010.

The country and stadium where the 2030 World Cup final will be played, with Spain, Morocco and Portugal as co-hosts, will be decided "in due course," FIFA told Spanish news agency EFE on 10 September 2026.
