Los Angeles 2028: up to $40.6bn in economic impact and 224,000 jobs supported by the Games (LAEDC report)

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games could generate between $20.5bn to $40.6bn (€17.4bn to €34.4bn) in economic output for Greater Los Angeles (California) and support 126,000 to 224,000 jobs, according to a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), commissioned by the LA28 organising committee and published on 15 September 2026.

The study also estimates the Games’ contribution to regional GDP at $15.4bn to $24bn and the tax revenue generated at $5.1bn to $5.9bn. The federal government would receive around 62%, ahead of the State of California (24%), cities across the region (10%) and Los Angeles County (4%).
