2014-15 Liga BBVA review: Barcelona champions for 23^rd time, 5 clubs in the 2015-16 Champions League

FC Barcelona won the 2014-15 Liga BBVA championship with 94 points (30 wins, 4 draws, and 4 losses), the 23^rd domestic title for the Catalan club. In addition to winning the 2014-15 Copa del Rey (Athletic Club Bilbao - FC Barcelona, 1-3 on 30/05/2015), Barcelona completed the "treble" by winning the 2014-15 Champions League (Juventus - FC Barcelona, 1-3 on 06/06/2015). Barcelona are the first European team to accomplish the treble twice, after their first three-trophy season in 2008-09.

Both European Cups are currently held by Spanish teams, as Sevilla FC won the Europa League (Sevilla FC - Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, 3-2 on 27/05/2015) for the second season in a row. With the implementation of the new UEFA regulation placing the Europa League champions into the Group Stage of the next Champions League, it is possible that there could be five Spanish teams in the Group Stage of the 2015-16 edition of the Champions League. This would be a first for the competition (Valencia CF must first advance from the Champions League Play-off Round).
