Artificial intelligence: IOC introduces framework for "trustworthy AI"

• Prioritise safe and secure AI for sport;
• Protect personal data with respect and care;
• Deliver robust and reliable AI for sport;
• Make sure the use of AI is clear and transparent;
• Govern AI with accountability and responsibility;
• Ensure AI is fair and equitable for all;
• Support sustainable AI for the future of sport.

These are the seven principles "designed to provide a common foundation for trustworthy AI across the Olympic Movement," the IOC announced on 28 September 2026.

To this end, the International Olympic Committee is launching a first framework aimed at providing practical guidance "to help organisations and stakeholders across the Olympic Movement explore artificial intelligence responsibly, ethically and with confidence."
