Italy: administrative approval process ends for AS Roma’s future stadium, construction to begin in 2027

"The favourable opinion issued by the Decision-Makers' Conference, chaired by Massimo Sessa, the government’s extraordinary commissioner, marks the end of the administrative approval procedure for the AS Roma's new stadium project in Pietralata (a district in the north-east of the Italian capital)," Rome City Council announced on 28 September 2026.

"This achievement rewards years of work, commitment and collaboration, pursued with determination, vision and continuity by the Friedkin family (the club's owners), in the belief that AS Roma’s future must be built through solid and ambitious projects. The club wishes to share this milestone with all the institutions and stakeholders who have contributed to making it possible," AS Roma stated.
