FIFA: Gianni Infantino ready to offer member associations "the greatest level of additional funding"

"I will not prejudge the amount. I will support the greatest level of additional funding that can responsibly be delivered through FIFA's proper governance process, applied fairly and supported by transparent and auditable arrangements," Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, wrote in a letter to the presidents of the six confederations (listed below) seen by Agence France-Presse and The Athletic (a US online sports news website) on 28 September 2026.

This letter is a response to the request made by Aleksander Ceferin (SVN), president of UEFA, and Victor Montagliani (CAN), president of Concacaf, who asked FIFA in a letter dated 18 September 2026 to pay "at least $10m" (€8.7m) to each of its 211 member associations, due to the significant profits generated notably by the 2026 World Cup, with…
