European Football Clubs: governance reform with a board expanded to 33 members

European Football Clubs (EFC) member clubs unanimously approved the reform of the association’s governance at the annual general assembly held in Copenhagen (Denmark) on 29 September 2026. From the start of the 2027-2031 cycle, the EFC board will be restructured into a 33-member board, with all representatives holding voting rights. The rest of the reform will take effect on 1 October 2026.

The European club association, which claims 920 members from 55 countries and territories, presented this change as "designed to bring stronger representation and participation across the organisation." At least five (and up to seven) of these 33 seats will be guaranteed for associated member clubs.
