"An independent Commission has found Manchester City FC [Premier League] guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period (2009-10 to 2017-18), and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the League’s investigation," the League announced on 29 September 2026, confirming the information published by American media outlet The Athletic four days earlier.

The independent Commission found that Manchester City:
