Manel del Rio, managing director of FC Barcelona (LALIGA EA Sports) since September 2025, is leaving his post, he announced on 1 October 2026.

Del Rio, who joined the Catalan club as chief financial officer in September 2022, is leaving Barça by "mutual agreement," according to several Spanish media outlets.

Pending the recruitment of a new executive, most of the managing director's duties will be carried out by Sergio Serrano, Barça's chief financial officer.

The departure comes seven months after Joan Laporta, president of Barça from 2003 to 2010 and again since March 2021, was re-elected to head the Catalan club until 2031 in the elections held on 15 March 2026.
