EuroLeague: 13 shareholder clubs approve conversion of 10-year licences into franchises

The owners of the 13 Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) shareholder clubs "agreed to move forward with the process of converting the current 10-year licences into franchises," Euroleague Basketball announced on 6 October 2026, following a meeting held in Cernobbio, on the shores of Lake Como (Italy).

The decision marks a further step in the transformation of the EuroLeague model, which plans to replace the long-term licences held by its shareholder clubs with franchises. Euroleague Basketball had not yet specified the legal timetable for the conversion.
