"A few months ago, I was asked why Africa supports Gianni Infantino. We adopted a resolution to that effect unanimously. We support him and we will support him at the next election. I want you all to stand up and applaud Gianni. If anyone has accusations or allegations to make against Gianni Infantino, a president or myself, go to the FIFA Ethics Committee, that is what these bodies are there for," Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football, said on 8 October 2026 during the opening session of the CAF Strategy Conference, held in Santa Maria on the island of Sal (Cabo Verde) from 7 to 9 October.
