The NBA and the WNBA are to launch an awareness campaign on the risks associated with sports betting and prediction markets, in partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), a US association dedicated to preventing gambling addiction, the two leagues announced on 13 October 2026.

The NBA and the WNBA aim to raise awareness among fans, particularly young adults, of the financial risks of sports betting and prediction markets, as well as their potential consequences for mental health. "As the ways people engage with sports continue to evolve, it is important that fans understand the risks associated with putting money on sports outcomes," Scott Kaufman-Ross, head of media distribution and partnerships at the NBA, said.

The campaign is to start during the 2026-27 season…
