"Waldemar Kita, president and owner of FC Nantes, has decided to definitively end discussions regarding the proposed sale of the club to Phenix Capital," the Ligue 2 BKT club announced on 22 October 2026.

"The sale process had entered exclusive negotiations on 28 September 2026. Despite multiple requests and the deadlines granted, it was with regret and surprise that it was noted that the prospective buyer and its advisers were unable to provide the financial guarantees announced, or to put together the complete file required for such a transaction to be approved by the DNCG," the club added.
