Belgium: François De Keersmaecker re-elected for a sixth term as president of the URBSFA

François De Keersmaecker was re-elected as the president of the Belgian Federation by the Executive Committee for a term of two years, until June 2017, announced the URBSFA on 27/06/2015. He was chosen ahead of Joseph Allijns, the president of KV Kortrijk (Jupiler Pro League) winning by 12 votes to 10 in the second round. The two candidates were tied in the first round (11-11).

François De Keersmaecker has been president since 2006, and this election will see him begin his sixth consecutive term. This is the first time that he was not unopposed. François De Keersmaecker succeeded Louis Wouters -- his father in law -- who was the president of the Belgian Federation from 1967 to 1987 and died in 1999. A lawyer by profession, Francois De Keersmaecker came through from amateur football. He was formerly a member (1985-1986) and then president (1986-1997) of the Provincial Committee of Antwerp.
