Poland: nc+ acquires domestic TV rights to first division and signs an agreement with Discovery

Ekstraklasa SA, the company that manages the Polish professional football league, has awarded the domestic TV rights to the T-Mobile Ekstraklasa (Polish first division) to the Polish pay-TV group nc+ (51% owned by the French group Canal+) for the next four seasons (2015-16 to 2018-19), announced the body on 26/06/2015.

nc+ held 100% of domestic TV, mobile and Internet rights to the Ekstraklasa for 2013-2015, and broadcasted matches on its channels Canal+ Family, Canal+ Sport and nSport. For the 2015-2018 cycle, nc+ will broadcast six out of eight matches of the T-Mobile Ekstraklasa per matchday, and has entered into a sub-licensing agreement with the US broadcaster Discovery Communications (owner of the pay-TV Eurosport channels) for the broadcasting of two other matches.

The amount has not been disclosed, but Ekstraklasa SA says that it is the "best deal of all time." "We are pleased with the results of this tender.
