Greece: Olympiacos provisionally added to Champions League, despite owner's alleged match-fixing

"The UEFA disciplinary bodies have provisionally admitted Olympiacos," stated Gianni Infantino, the UEFA general secretary, on 30/06/2015. "There are investigations in Greece (and) the situation could change... As we all know, this kind of investigation can take some time, we need to have some clear evidence."

Vangelis Marinakis, the owner Olympiacos FC (Greek Superleague), was put on €200,000 bail last month in a pre-trial review at an Athens (GRE) criminal court on 18/06/2015, which examined evidence he is part of a crime ring that involved persons at both the club and officials and referees of the HFF. The Athens court ordered him to have no further involvement in football activity, although he remains listed on the club’s official website as its president.

"I think our bodies have shown they are very firm when it comes to match-fixing; if there is any evidence, they will take this into account. There is a clear rule as well which automatically excludes a club involved in match-fixing," added Gianni Infantino on 30/06/2015.
