Spain: Gol T, which ceased broadcasting on 01/07/2015, replaced by beIN Sports, available in OTT

The pay-TV channel Gol T, owned by the Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro, and which notably held the broadcasting rights in Spain to the Liga BBVA, the Premier League and the Europa League, stopped broadcasting on 01/07/2015. The channel was available on Spanish pay DTT.

The Spanish media groups Mediapro and Atresmedia reached an agreement on 28/05/2015, for the handover to Atresmedia, from 01/07/2015, of the DTT frequency used by Mediapro for its pay-TV channel Gol T. The agreement between the two groups began in 2009 and ran until 31/12/2015. Mediapro considers OTT "a more appropriate medium than DTT for the expansion of pay-TV, in terms of the quality of programmes and lower broadcasting costs."

"The 01/07/2015, Mediapro will complete its football offer by creating a new channel with the best of international football: the Champions League, Europa League and major foreign championships, exclusively.
