FIFA: Chilean Harold Mayne-Nicholls banned from football activity for seven years

Harold Mayne-Nicholls, the former president of the Football Federation of Chile, was suspended from all football activity for a period of seven years by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee on 06/07/2015.

Harold Mayne-Nicholls is notable in the international football community as chairman of the Bid Evaluation Group which wrote the technical reports for the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. FIFA has as yet given no explanation for its banning decision, which came after a personal hearing involving Mayne-Nicholls.

  • “The decision was taken following a hearing in the presence of the accused and the chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, Cornel Borbély (SUI) More detailed information will be given after this final decision becomes effective," stated FIFA on 06/07/2015.
  • FIFA did not explain how Harold Mayne-Nicholls had breached its Code of Ethics and did not detail when the decision becomes effective.
