Twitter: the European Top 10 of most followers multiplies, in one year, by a factor of 2.5

The Top 10 European clubs which showed the largest year-on-year increases in followers on the social network Twitter increased their number of followers by a factor of 2.5 in between July 2014 (27 million followers) and July 2015 (68.8 million), according to figures collected by News Tank Football on 13/07/2015.

Real Madrid CF (Liga BBVA) gained the most new Twitter followers, with 4.7 million additional followers since July 2014, ahead of FC Barcelona (+3.5 million) and Manchester United FC (+2.75 million).

FC Bayern Munich (+984,000) led all German clubs in new Twitter followers since July 2014, while Juventus (+731,000) and Paris Saint-Germain (+950,6000) led Italy and France, respectively. Two Turkish clubs, both Istanbul-based, Galatasaray +1.74 million) and Fenerbahçe (+1.25 million), are also included in the European Top 10 gains in Twitters since July 2014, a ranking which includes four English clubs, two Spanish, two Turkish, one German and one French.
