Spain: Telefónica acquires 2015-16 rights to the Liga BBVA, Liga Adelante and Copa del Rey for €600m

Telefónica, the Spanish telecommunications and media group, acquired the exclusive 2015-16 domestic audiovisual rights to LaLiga on 10/07/2015. The amount of the acquisition was €600m. The agreement covers all domestic TV rights to the Liga BBVA, the Liga Adelante and all pay-TV rights for the Copa del Rey.

"Telefónica and LaLiga are satisfied with the agreement for the 2015-16 season, one that they both consider also beneficial for the rest of the (pay-TV) operators, clubs and fans," stated the telecom group and the Spanish Professional Football League on 10/07/2015.

• The broadcasting group Mediaset España holds the domestic broadcasting rights to the 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions of the final of the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de España Match across two legs between the last winner of LaLiga Santander and the last winner of the Copa del Rey (pre-season match that pits the winner of the Liga BBVA against the winner of the Copa del Rey).
