Euro 2016: CAS awards forfeit win to Albania, upholds sanctions against Serbia for abandoned match

"The (CAS) Panel holds that the Football Association of Serbia (FAS) and not the FAA (Football Association of Abania) must be considered as responsible for the match not being played in full, in violation of Article 27.01 of the Regulations of the UEFA European Football Championship 2014-2016. In light of this finding, the CAS Panel has decided that the UEFA European Championship qualifying Group I match between Serbia and Albania be deemed to have been forfeited by the FAS by the score of 0-3," announced the CAS on 10/07/2015.

On 24/10/2015, shortly after the abandoned match, the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) of UEFA had declared Serbia the winner by forfeit team (3-0), but the body also imposed a three point penalty on Serbia. These actions follow the incidents that happened during the suspended Serbia - Albania match (Group I of qualifying for Euro 2016, on 14/10/2014). Thus the UEFA decision meant that neither team received points from the match.
