FC Barcelona: Josep Maria Bartomeu elected as the club president for the 2015-2021 period

Josep Maria Bartomeu was elected president of FC Barcelona for the 2015-2021 period, following the ballot organised for the club's socios on 18/07/2015. Bartomeu received 25,823 votes (54.63%). Joan Laporta was second with 15,615 votes (33.03%), Agusti Benedito third (3,386 votes, 7.16%) and Toni Freixa fourth (1,750 votes, 3.7%).

47,270 socios participated in this election, or 43.12% of the 109,637 eligible to vote. This is, according to the club, the third best election participation in the history of Barça, behind the 2003 election (51,618 voters) and 2010 (57,088).

"My first words have to be for the Barça members, those who have voted, those who didn’t vote, those who have not been able to come and those who did not want to take part: thank you," stated Josep Bartomeu after the announcement of results on 18/07/2015. "It has been a perfect day. We have shown that we are the best team in the world. We will try to replicate the level of confidence shown by members, and the directors that have come before us."
