FIFA set the Elective Congress for 26/02/2016, Michel Platini to state his position "in 10-15 days"

The Extraordinary FIFA Congress in charge of electing the next president of the international federation will be held in Zurich (SUI) on Friday 26/02/2015, FIFA announced via its Twitter account on 20/07/2015.

This decision was taken at a special meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee in Zurich. Joseph Blatter was re-elected for a fifth term (2015-2019 period) as the president of FIFA on 29/05/2015, but announced that he would "lay down my mandate", on 02/06/2015. He stated, the same day, that a meeting of the Executive Committee would be held to choose the date of the Extraordinary Congress to elect his successor.

Candidates now have until 26/10/2015 to formally declare the candidacies (with the support of at least five of the 209 national federations), four months before the congress, according to FIFA statutes. Sources close to Michel Platini indicate that the UEFA president will state his position "within 10-15 days", on 20/07/2015.
