Financial Fair Play: the EU Court of Justice deems inadmissible the ruling of the Brussels court

"UEFA notes with satisfaction the ruling of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) dated 16/07/2015 in which it has declared 'manifestly inadmissible' the recent request for a preliminary ruling on the legality of financial fair play made by the Brussels Court of First Instance (BCFI)," stated the Union of European Football Associations on 22/07/2015.

UEFA had appealed a ruling by the BCFI, which "bans UEFA from proceeding to the second phase of implementation of Financial Fair Play." A "request for interim measures" had been lodged with the Court of First Instance in Brussels (BEL) by Jean-Louis Dupont (one of the lawyers behind the Bosman ruling on 15/12/1995) and his Belgian compatriot, Martin Hissel, against Financial Fair Play, on behalf of Daniel Striani (player agent) and a number of English, French and Belgian football supporters, on 10/10/2014.
