Ligue 1-Ligue 2: FFF annuls 2 promotions/relegations from 2015-16, LFP appeals to Council of State

The FFF annulled the decision of the LFP to establish a system of 2 promotions/relegations (instead of 3) between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 from the 2015-16 season, at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Federation at the headquarters of the body in Paris on 23/07/2015. The LFP's Board of Directors decided, on 09/07/2015, to introduce this system early in 2015-16 instead of 2016-17 as initially agreed with the FFF.

At the end of the Executive Committee meeting of the FFF, the president of the LFP Frédéric Thiriez, who criticised "a major crisis" between the governing bodies of French football, said the LFP would "appeal to the in chamber of the Conseil d'Etat (the Council of State)" in order to reverse the decision of the Federation.
