Premier League: John Coates appointed as vice-chairman of Stoke City FC

John Coates, the son of the Peter Coates, the chairman of Stoke City FC (Barclays Premier League), has been appointed as vice-chairman of the Midlands club, according to documents released by the Companies House register of UK companies on 23/07/2015.

John Coates replaces Keith Humphreys, the club director, who had been present on the board of Stoke City FC for 34 years. "John and I have run the club together since bet365 purchased the club in 2006, and his appointment as vice-chairman serves to formalise his involvement," stated Peter Coates.

• John Coates is also a joint chief executive, alongside his sister Denise Coates, of the Bet 365 Group Limited, the operator of the Bet365 betting website, and owned by the Coates family.
  • The Bet 365 Group also owns Stoke City FC.
• Denise Coates is married to Richard Smith, who is the managing director of Stoke City FC.
