"(Michel) Platini is not good for FIFA. Football's fans and players deserve better," stated the Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein on 29/07/2015. Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein was the only competitor to Joseph Blatter (SUI) at the previous election for the presidency of FIFA on 29/05/2015.

Joseph Blatter obtained 133 of the 206 valid votes cast (64.5%) in the first round of the election, just below the two-thirds majority to win in the initial round. However, Prince Ali withdrew his candidacy before the second round. Blatter then announced that he would "lay down my mandate" on 02/06/2015. Candidates now have until 26/10/2015 to formally declare the candidacies (with the support of at least five of the 209 national federations), four months before the congress, according to FIFA statutes.

Michel Platini (FRA), president of UEFA since 2007, announced his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA on 29/07/2015. In the previous election, Michel Platini had supported Ali Bin Al Hussein and had said "a very, very large majority of European federations would vote for Prince Ali," the day before…
