FIFA: Belgian court rejects the request from Doyen Sports to suspend the prohibition of TPO

The Court of First Instance in Brussels (BEL) rejected, on 024/07/2015, the request of the club Seraing United (Proximus League, Belgian second division) and the investment fund Doyen Sports, filed on 27/05/2015, for the suspension of the prohibition of TPO, pending a decision on the merits of the case.

The prohibition of TPO entered into force on 01/05/2015. The decision was approved by the FIFA Executive Committee on 19/12/2014. "The applicants (Seraing and Doyen Sports) have not proven their allegations that the ban is contrary to European community law, and disproportionate in light of the objectives pursued -- namely the protection of players and the integrity of football," stated the Court of First Instance in Brussels on 24/07/2015.

"Doyen Sports has noted the decision of the Court of First Instance, which is relative only to the request for suspension of the TPO ban requested by Doyen Sports. The attention of the Court of this and the careful analysis of the merits of the case is a victory in itself," stated the football investment fund on 27/07/2015.
