FIFA: Colombian Federation to support Michel Platini's candidacy for president

"The Executive Committee of the FCF (Colombian Football Federation) has decided to lend its support and support to the Frenchman Michel Platini, the current UEFA president, in his bid for the presidency of FIFA," announced the Colombian Federation following its regular Congress on 03/08/2015.

Michel Platini, president of UEFA since 2007, announced his candidacy for the presidency of the international federation on 29/07/2015. The election will be held during an extraordinary FIFA Congress held in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016. This date was set by the FIFA Executive Committee on 20/07/2015. The deadline for the submission of applications is 26/10/2015. A candidate for the office of FIFA president is only valid if the person is supported by at least five member associations.

The Colombian Federation is the fourth FIFA member association from CONMEBOL (which has 10 in total) to announce its support for Michel Platini, after the Uruguayan, Chilean and Paraguayan federations.
