UK and Ireland: Sky Sports extends its broadcasting rights for the Liga BBVA until 2018

The British pay-TV group Sky plc extended its exclusive broadcasting rights of the Liga BBVA in the United Kingdom and Ireland for three more seasons, until the end of the 2017-18 season, on 05/08/2015. The agreement, reached with the Spanish broadcaster Mediapro, includes the 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions, as well as the final, of the Copa del Rey.

Financial details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed. Sky Sports will broadcast over 100 live Liga BBVA matches each season. In addition to the Sky satellite package, Sky Sports is available on Internet and mobile platforms through the Sky Go service and the non-subscription streaming service, Now TV.

After Spain (Telefónica), Italy (Fox Sports), France (beIN Sport) and now the UK (Sky Sports), Germany is the last major European audiovisual market where 2015- 2018 Liga BBVA broadcast rights have not yet been allocated. The 2015-16 Liga BBVA season begins on Friday, 21/08/2015 at 20:30 CET with Málaga CF - Sevilla FC.
