Spain: Vodafone TV is the first pay-TV platform to distribute beIN Sports channels

The Spanish telecommunications group Vodafone España has partnered with the Spanish broadcaster Mediapro to distribute, through its pay-TV platform Vodafone TV, the beIN Sports pay-TV channels on 04/08/2015.

Vodafone, which bought the Ono operator in January 2015, is the third largest actor in the Spanish market for pay television (with 783,887 subscribers at 31/12/2014), behind Telefónica (Movistar TV, 1,881,457 subscribers) and DTS (Canal+ España, 1,696,585 subscribers, now owned by Telefónica). Vodafone is the first operator to distribute beIN Sports channels in Spain, but similar arrangements should soon be concluded by Mediapro with Telefónica and Orange.

"Mediapro is still negotiating with other pay-TV operators, in accordance with its strategy, to distribute its content via all platforms and all possible operators, to make them more accessible and affordable," stated the Spanish audiovisual group on 05/08/2015.
