Portugal: CTT (postal service) acquires the naming rights to the Taça CTT (league cup) until 2017-18

CTT, the national postal service of Portugal, has become the title sponsor of the Portuguese league cup for three seasons (2015-16 to 2017-18), announced the LPFP on 15/07/2015.

The competition is now called the Taça CTT. The Portuguese company will activate the partnership with the broadcast of a commercial. "This agreement seeks to strengthen brand awareness and join an activity already considered as a success," explained Francisco Lacerda, the president and CEO of CTT, on 15/07/2015. The last CTT sponsorship deal in football dates back to the national partner agreement for the Euro 2004 in Portugal.

The Portuguese league had sold the naming rights to the league cup to the the Danish brewer Carlsberg between the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons.

  • The final of the 2014-15 Taça da Liga (SL Benfica - CS Marítimo Funchal, 2-1) was broadcast on ITV, and drew nearly 2 million viewers on average for an audience share of 47.3%.
  • Pedro Proença was elected the new president of the LPFP on 30/07/2015.
