The Chinese state TV channel CCTV-5 has acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League season, the channel announced on its official Sina Weibo account (a social network and microblogging platform in China), on 05/08/2015.

The information has not been confirmed since by CCTV-5, the Premier League or by Super Sports Media Group, the broadcaster which holds the exclusive live broadcasting rights in mainland China and Macau to the English first division from 2013 to 2019.

CCTV-5, who have only be able to broadcast replays of Premier League matches since 2003, will be able to broadcast one live match on each matchday of the 2015-16 season, according to several Chinese sources.
