FIFA: François Carrard appointed independent chairman of the "2016 FIFA Reform Committee"

François Carrard (77 years old) has been appointed the independent chairman of the "2016 FIFA Reform Committee", the international federation announced on 11/08/2016. The committee is responsible for developing a series of reform proposals that will be presented at the upcoming FIFA extraordinary Congress, in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016, in which the congress will elect a successor to Joseph Blatter for the presidency of the international federation.

"As CEO of the International Olympic Committee, Dr Carrard guided the IOC through its own governance reforms in the wake of the bidding process for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002. An internationally renowned Swiss lawyer, Dr Carrard brings specific experience of the challenges faced by global sports organisations such as FIFA," said the federation on 11/08/2015. François Carrard held the position of CEO of the IOC from 1999 to 2003. He is currently a partner in the law firm Carrard & Associés.
