"I think the 2024 Olympics would be beneficial for this city. I think it's who we are. I think we would benefit from it economically. One of the reasons L.A. is seen so strongly by so many IOC members is we're not building a transit system because of the Olympics," said Eric Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles, to the Los Angeles Times newspaper on 10/08/2015.

Following the candidacy withdrawal of Boston (United States) for the 2024 Olympic Games, Los Angeles (California) should soon be announced as the new US candidate city. Los Angeles would have a budget of $4.1bn (or €3.68bn), $500m less than what was presented by Boston ($4.6bn, or €4bn). The leaders of the bid team are predicting a final profit of $150m (€135m) mainly based on sponsorship and ticketing revenue, and would offer to cover, where necessary, any additional expenses. The city of Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympics in 1984.
