France: Stade Rennais leave UCPF, and join 18 other clubs in forming a new Ligue 1 only union

Stade Rennais FC (Ligue 1) have left the UCPF (French union of professional football clubs) on 12/08/2015 to join 18 other Ligue 1 clubs, who all resigned the day before, to "establish together a new union", of only Ligue 1 clubs (and excluding clubs from Ligue 2 and lower), according to the information stated to News Tank Football. The creation of this new union for top flight clubs only should occur by the end of August 2015.

En Avant de Guingamp, chaired by Bertrand Desplat (the son of Noël Le Graët, the president of the FFF) is now the only Ligue 1 club ( 2015-16) not to have resigned from the French Union of Professional Football Clubs.

The decision of these first division clubs comes as the French Council of State, the highest administrative court in France, examines, on 13/08/2015 an urgent application brought by the French LFP, on 23/07/2015, against the decision of the FFF Executive Committee, also on 23/07/2015, to annul the LFP's change in the number of promotions and relegations between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 from three movements to only two, beginning from the 2015-16…
