Periscope: 53 clubs in the European Top 5 leagues use the application

Among the five major European leagues (98 clubs in total), 53 clubs have accounts on Periscope, the live video streaming app acquired by Twitter on 10/03/2015 for $100m (€91.9m), according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 13/08/2015. The most followed club among the five major championships is FC Barcelona (82,200 followers), ahead of Real Madrid CF (71,500 followers).

The Periscope app had 10 million users at the beginning of August 2015, five months after its launch, announced Kayvon Beykpour, the co-founder and CEO of Periscope, on 12/08/2015. The application identifies 1.9 million daily users who watch the equivalent of "40 years of video per day". Periscope now has three main competitors on the video live streaming market: Meerkat, MyEye and Live from Facebook.
