Spain: no distribution agreement to date between Telefónica and Mediapro to distribute beIN Sports

The Spanish group telecommunications Telefónica and the Spanish broadcaster Mediapro have failed to agree, so far, on the conditions for the distribution of the pay channel beIN Sports España (a joint venture between Mediapro and the beIN Media Group) on the Movistar TV bouquet of Telefónica, according to Spanish media on 13/08/2015.

The channel beIN Sports España holds, among others, all broadcasting rights in Spain to the Champions League and Europa League for the 2015-2018 cycle (five Spanish clubs are involved in the 2015- 16 edition of the Champions League: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid FC, Club Atletico de Madrid, Valencia CF and Sevilla FC). Mediapro has already signed distribution agreements with the telecommunications groups and pay-TV operators Vodafone and Orange. beIN Sports is also available, without obligation, on the OTT platform Total Channel, a Mediapro property.
