YouTube broadcasts the Bundesliga free in the US and New Zealand in an agreement with Fox Sports

YouTube, the Internet and mobile video sharing platform, concluded an agreement with the US pay-TV group Fox Sports on 13/08/2015. The agreement concerned the free, live broadcast on YouTube, via the official channel of Fox Sports, of the FC Bayern Munich - Hamburger SV match (5-0), the inaugural match of the 2015-16 Bundesliga season, which took place on Friday 14/08/2015. The broadcast was limited to YouTube users based in the United States. Fox Sports holds the broadcast rights to the Bundesliga 2015-2020 in the United States.

In New Zealand, the rights to broadcast the 2015-16 Bundesliga were awarded to YouTube, announced the DFL on 14/08/2015. This is the first time that YouTube has acquired live broadcasting rights of a major football championship. The Bundesliga does not currently have a TV broadcaster in New Zealand for the 2015-16 season.

YouTube will broadcast the Friday night Bundesliga fixture live and free of charge to its users based in New Zealand on each matchday of the season. YouTube will also offer other live matches for free, as well as highlights of all…
