"Michel Platini was a great football player, and he is my good friend. His problem is he does not seem to appreciate the seriousness of the corruption crisis at FIFA. Recently, Platini said Blatter is his enemy, but we know the relationship was like mentor and protégé, or father and son," said the South Korean Chung Mong-joon, during a press conference at which he officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA in Paris (FRA) on 17/08/2015.

Chung Mong-joon, former chairman of the KFA (1993-2009) and former FIFA vice-President (1994-2011) announced his candidate for the presidency of FIFA on 30/07/2015.

"If I'm elected I will serve only one term, four years. I can change FIFA in four years," said Chung Mong-joon, who is the majority shareholder of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, the largest shipbuilding company in the world, whose personal fortune is estimated at more than €1.1bn by Forbes magazine, on 17/08/2015.
