Australia: beIN Sports acquires the exclusive rights to broadcast the Liga BBVA

The pay-TV group beIN Sports Australia acquired, via the Spanish broadcaster Mediapro, the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Liga BBVA in Australia, on 11/08/2015.

No financial details were disclosed, nor the duration of the contract, which is expected to cover the period from 2015-2020, similar to the five-year contracts Mediapro has recently been signing for broadcasting rights to the LIGA BBVA outside Europe.

beIN Sports Australia will broadcast several Liga BBVA fixtures live for every matchday of the season, as well as three shows dedicated to the Spanish first division, one of which will show the highlights of all the matches from the past week.

Matchday 1 of the 2015-16 Liga BBVA season is scheduled from 21 to 24/08/2015.

  • The Qatari pay-TV company beIN Media Group, and the Spanish broadcaster Mediapro have created a joint venture to establish the beIN Sports channel in Spain.
  • The beIN Media Group acquired the Australian pay-TV group Setanta Sports Australia on 14/10/2014.
    • The Australian channel was renamed beIN Sports Australia in the takeover.
