Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, DFB president from 2001 to 2006, died on 17/08/2015, announced the German Federation on 18/08/2015.

Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder had been president of VfB Stuttgart for 25 years, from 1975 to 2000, during which time the club were German champions in 1984 and 1992 and the German Cup winners in 1997. Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder was a member of the UEFA Executive Committee from 2000-2007, and was also vice-president of the organisation from 2007-2009. He was a member of the FIFA Executive Committee from 2002-2007. He was 82 years old.
