Spain: LaLiga launches fantasy league game, a virtual competition over the Internet

The Spanish Professional Football League has launched LaLiga Fantasy, its own virtual sports league on the Internet, for the 2015-16 Liga BBVA season, announced LaLiga on 17/08/2015.

"The game, available on iOS and Android, includes live rankings, and is 100% based on official LaLiga statistics. It was designed to increase the excitement of the competition and for all football fans to bring out their inner football manager," said LaLiga. On each matchday, users will form a team made up of 11 players from clubs in Liga BBVA and will get points based on the performance of these players.

• Registration for LaLiga Fantasy is free.
• The Spanish League has not yet announced any financial prizes or gifts for the best participants in the game.

The Premier League, which was the only one of the top 5 European leagues to have its own fantasy league, has over 3 million players
