Calcio Catania has been administratively demoted from the Serie B for 2015-16, and the club will play in the Lega Pro (Italian third division). In the Lega Pro, Catania will begin the championship with 12 penalty points, and must pay a fine of €150,000, the Italian federal court decided, via proceedings from the FIGC, on 20/08/2015 about the affair of select matches "purchased" by former club president Antonino Pulvirenti. The latter is suspended for five years and must pay a fine of €300,000.

There will also be no Serie B promotion for the club SS Teramo Calcio 1913, which has been penalised for rigging its final game of the 2014-15 Lega Pro championship in Group B (a 0-2 win at Savona FBC), which allowed the club to clinch promotion to the Serie B. Teramo will instead now be administratively demoted to the Serie D (Italian fourth division) in 2015-16, and pay a fine of €30,000. Luciano Campitelli, the president of the club, is suspended for four years and fined €100,000. Savona FBC are also relegated to the Serie D.
