FIFA: the president of the CFU, which contains 25 Caribbean federations, supports David Nakhid (TRI)

Gordon Derrick, the Antiguan president of the CFU, announced his support for the candidacy of the Trinidadian David Nakhid for the FIFA presidency, on 23/05/2015. The CFU is an association which includes the 25 Caribbean member associations of FIFA (and also six football federations not affiliated to the international federation). These island federations are also members of the CONCACAF confederation, which encompasses the 35 FIFA member federations of North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

“(Nakhid) came to me in Antigua and described his passion and why he thought he was qualified to hold such a high office in geopolitical terms. He convinced me that he is serious and he has the academics and international appeal… I invited him to our executive committee meeting and he gave an exceptional account of himself and showed that, if given the opportunity, he can make noise in the race,” said Gordon Derrick to Wired868, the Trinidad-based online newspaper, on 23/08/2015.
