Champions League: five Spanish clubs in the group stage, the draw in Monaco on 27/08/2015

The draw for the eight groups of the 2015-16 Champions League is organised at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco Thursday 27/08/2015 from 17:45 CET, after the second legs of the final play-off round matches.

The competition regulations now provide that the winner of the Europa League (Sevilla FC in 2014-15) qualifies for the group stage of the next Champions League. Therefore, five Spanish teams will participate in the 2015-16 competition:

• The first three teams of the 2014-15 Liga BBVA table (FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF and Club Atlético de Madrid) qualified directly into the group stage.
• Valencia CF, 4^th in the Liga BBVA in 2014-15, won their 2015-16 Champions League play-off round tie over AS Monaco (4-3 on aggregate).
• Sevilla FC, winner of the 2014-15 Europa League (5^th in the 2014-15 Liga BBVA).
