Copa America Centenario 2016: the competition could be held outside the United States

"The 100th anniversary will be celebrated on the field. We want to have a Copa Centenario, it's on the FIFA calendar and the idea is for it to be played. Whether it will be in the United States? We have to wait for some things to happen, to review some things," said the Paraguayan Juan Angel Napout, president of CONMEBOL, on 27/08/2015.

The "Copa America Centenario 2016" is a special edition of the Copa America (South American continental cup), to celebrate the 100th anniversary of CONMEBOL and the competition itself. It will be contested by the 10 national teams from CONMEBOL and as well as six national teams from CONCACAF in -- as of this date -- the designated host country, the United States, from 03 to 26/06/2016.

The announcement of the American host cities for the competition should have taken place in May 2015, but was not carried out because of the scandal that hit the two confederations and FIFA, in the same month.
